4 Easy Ways to Take Care of Your Shoes
Here in Ohio, the weather is starting to get warmer and we are looking forward to the day when we can get back on the pickleball courts! In the meantime, we are trying new activities to stay in shape during this quarantine. And now is the perfect time to make sure your pickleball shoes are in perfect shape too!
Like all shoes, your pickleball shoes will get worn down after use. Here are ways we recommend to keep your court shoes in shape.
Clean your shoe by wiping down the outside with a wet cloth and letting them dry completely.
Air your shoes out after each use. Use an old newspaper, ball up a page and stick it in your shoe to help soak up any water or sweat in your shoes. Just remember to take them out before you put your court shoes on next!
Odor eaters or sneaker balls are great ways to refresh your court shoes when you are not using them. You can also use baking soda to help with moisture and remove any odors from your court shoes.
Only use your shoes for pickleball. Pickleball shoes are designed to give you stability for side to side movement and quick starts and stops, while running shoes only offer support for forwards movement. This is why it is not safe to wear running shoes during pickleball play. Although you can use court shoes when you go for a run or walk, this will cause your shoes to get worn down sooner. We recommend having a pair of shoes that you only use for your pickleball games.
